science the week of may 11

this week in science we talked about the phases of the moons. there is something called waning, which is when the moon is slowly getting less iluminated and waxing when it is the other way around. we also learned about how the tilt of the earth affects which season it is. in the winter, the earth is actually closest to the sun but it feels colder because the way that the earth is tilted, the sun's rays hit us alot more indirectly then when in the summer we are further away but tilted more toward the sun. the moon phases are cresent which is when its skinny, quarter which looks to us like a half. gibbous which is when a skinny part is un illuminated and full.
